The white Stripes
The White Stripes is an American rock band consisting of only two people:
Jack White (real name: John Anthony Gillis, singing vocals and playing guitar and piano) and Meg White (playing drums).
The group was formed in Detroit in 1997.
Their music is mainly based on punk and blues influences. Their compositions seem
to be quite simple, but in fact they are innovative and original in many
aspects. Their play live by themselves (only the two members, without help)
and their image is connected with red-white-black design.
The White Stripes recorded six studio albums, which sold in number of around
12 million. See
the discography of the band.
